Matt Wright is a lifelong Indiana resident. He and his wife have three children, two grandchildren and two dogs. Like his grandfather and great grandfather before him, Matt knew that he wanted to go into law enforcement from an early age. He attended Oakland City University, receiving an associate’s degree in criminal justice. Matt’s been in law enforcement for over 25 years.
Matt was sworn in as Monrovia’s Chief of Police on January 3, 2023. Chief Wright has a passion for public service and helping those in need. He’s been a driving force in donating meals and toys to local families and organizations around the holidays each year, as well as acquiring equipment and donations to help our officers better serve the community.
