Reference: State Road 42 Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) Overlay and Small Structure Project
Location: From the north approach of the SR 142 / SR 42 intersection in Eminence, extending east along SR 42 to 0.06 miles east of the SR 42 / SR 39 junction in Monrovia.
When: Beginning April 9, 2024, SR 42 will be closed to all but local traffic from the west end of Monrovia east to Wellman Road as INDOT works on pipe crossings and box culverts. There will be a “hard” closing as they work each of 9 individual pipe crossings (the first one being 4/10 of a mile west of Everett Road. The hard closure pipe crossings are scheduled to be completed by the end of June,2024.
Beginning in July,2024, INDOT will be performing curb ramp work in Monrovia. This will be followed by patching, paving, and associated work, which will be performed during August – October under local traffic only closure.
Alternate Route: Drivers may consider taking Baltimore Road south to SR 142, turning right (west) on SR 142 to travel west towards Little Point to avoid SR 42 road closures.
Your Town officials will be in constant communication with INDOT through to project completion (2026) and provide updates to Monrovians as they are received.
